In order to get a CNA license in Orlando and all of Florida, you must meet some requirements. A state-approved training program IS NOT required prior to taking the state CNA exam. A high school diploma or equivalent IS NOT required if you are 18 years old or older. Applicants must successfully pass the written and clinical state exam and the required background screening (Level II).
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has contracted with Prometric to administer its Certified Nursing Assisting (CNA) exam. You have to sign up for the exam and pay the fees to Prometric; you also have to get a Level II criminal background check done to be eligible to take the exam. The written portion of the exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions that evaluate your nursing assistant skills and knowledge. You have 90 minutes to complete the test. The clinical test consists of 5 skills; handwashing and Indirect care are part of the 5 skills; the time allowed for this test ranges from 31 to 40 minutes based on the skills you will be tested. Upon passing both sections of the exam, your scores will be sent to the Florida Board of Nursing and they will mail you the CNA license. Your official results will also be listed on the CNA Registry and you will be able to work as a CNA.
